(WHTM)-- The Pennsylvania Turnpike announced it deployed new maintenance equipment, which will improve safety and better support access to hard-to-access locations.

The PA Turnpike received the new equipment through a partnership with two U.S.-based companies, Lift-a-Loft and SwapLoader. The new equipment added to the turnpike's fleet includes two hook lift-mounted platforms for its fleet, each of which can be elevated up to 22 feet, and slide outside of the footprint of the vehicle.

According to the PA Turnpike, the new equipment will allow for better efficiency and support access to hard-to-reach locations like tunnels, which could decrease maintenance times on roadways.
