STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — June Ann Sucich, a lifelong Staten Islander remembered for her unwavering love, compassion, and devotion to family, died on Aug. 14 at 83.
Born in Rosebank in 1942 to Agnes and Henry Corson, June moved to New Dorp at the age of 4, where she would spend nearly eight decades raising her children in the community that shaped her life.
She attended local Catholic schools before graduating from New Dorp High School. In 1963, she graduated from the former St. Elizabeth’s Hospital School of Nursing in Massachusetts, an accomplishment marked in newspaper clippings her family still keeps.
After completing her education, June began her career as a registered nurse at the former Staten Island Hospital, Tompkinsville, working in both the operating room and dialysis unit. She r
