These are the five takeaways from my live boradcast on the MLive Youtube channel this morning.
1. Persistent Heat Dome Building Over Michigan
A significant, closed upper dome of hot air will be centered directly over Michigan by Monday, covering the entire state and extending to surrounding Great Lakes regions including Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, and southern Ontario. This ridge pattern will drive temperatures into the mid-to-upper 80s with some areas potentially reaching 90 degrees. The normal temperatures for this time of year should be around 70-73 degrees, making the forecast significantly above normal. Weather models show this warm pattern holding tight through the extended forecast period with no sign of much cooler fall weather through at least September 27th.
