TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - The town of Oro Valley is experiencing a slow in its sales tax and state-shared revenues – so in turn the town is considering new taxes and fees .
Oro Valley’s Chamber of Commerce held a forum Thursday for businesses to learn more about the proposal.
It all comes down to two things: maintaining public safety and road maintenance. Since those costs have increased, the town is looking for a way to fill that need.
Oro Valley’s public safety and road maintenance costs have risen to the point where they’re eating into the town’s general fund, so Oro Valley leaders are looking at long- term solutions.
“This tax proposal is a way and method for us to kind of address those issues, hopefully permanently,” said David Gephart, chief financial officer for Oro Valley.
