OSKALOOSA, Iowa (KCCI) - An art teacher in Iowa is on leave for something he said on social media.

It was a response to conservative activist Charlie Kirk’s death.

There was a police presence outside of Oskaloosa High School for most of Thursday.

“This has created substantial material disruption to our learning environment, the last 12 hours,” Oskaloosa Schools Superintendent Mike Fisher said.

It was a busy day, according to Fisher. He confirmed the trouble started late Wednesday afternoon when high school art teacher Matt Kargol posted on social media, “1 Nazi down.”

It was Kargol’s response to the shooting death of Republican political activist Charlie Kirk.

Upset Oskaloosa residents started calling the school to complain.
