To mark National Pet Memorial Day on Sept. 14, a local animal rescue is hosting a unique ceremony to honor our four-legged friends who have crossed the rainbow bridge.

Where the Love Is, a nonprofit, no-kill animal shelter run by volunteers in Hamden, is hosting “Light The Night” at 7 p.m. at the shelter located at 796 Old Woodin St.

Those in attendance will be able to decorate and display luminaria on the grounds of the shelter.

Each luminaria is $10. All proceeds from the event will go directly to pay for the veterinarian bill for June, a rescue taken in by the organization who passed away.
