Megan and Shawn McClellan are trading out their fondue warmers for pizza ovens.

On Sunday, Uptown Fondue + Wine officially becomes Uptown Pizzeria + Wine Bar. The McClellans’ restaurant is at 422 Conant St., Maumee.

The fondue restaurant, which had customers cooking duck, lobster, cheese, and chocolate at their tables, opened in April, 2024.

“We knew fondue was a risk to begin with,” Mrs. McClellan said. “It wasn’t doing bad, necessarily. We just knew it wasn’t going to be sustainable long term.”

Fondue was a favorite for celebrations, such as birthdays and anniversaries. Not so much for a Friday after-work bite or Saturday date night.
