More than 90,000 Toyota, Lexus and Subaru vehicles have been recalled due to operating issues with the defogger and defroster, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said.

The NHTSA posted a safety recall notice on Sept. 4 after Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing found that certain Toyota, Lexus and Subaru models have faulty HVAC systems, which could decrease driver visibility under certain conditions and increase the risk of a crash.

The faults could lead to electrical compressor failure, which could make the defroster and defogger system become inoperative, according to the recall notice.
