Nevada has restored 90% of its public-facing state websites and fully brought the Department of Motor Vehicles back online following the Aug. 24 cyberattack, Gov. Joe Lombardo said Friday, Sept. 12.
The cyberattack occurred on Sunday, Aug. 24 , prompting the state to isolate and take some systems offline to contain the threat.
The DMV is now processing registrations, title transfers, driver’s license renewals and tests at offices statewide. Lombardo said reports of dealer registration issues were traced to user errors rather than system failures.
The attack led to a statewide password reset that was not announced in advance, Lombardo said, because giving notice could tip off criminals and increase takeover attempts. Nearly all of the state’s employees have regained access. Lombardo ad
