ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Albany County District Attorney's Office announced on Friday that Keron Payne of Albany was sentenced to 18 years in state prison for causing the death of Jieshi Williams in 2024. Payne, 36, pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter.

As part of his plea, Payne admitted to repeatedly beating Williams using his fists and a shoe during a fight at a house party on Clinton Avenue around 10:35 p.m. on February 23, 2024. Williams died at the scene from severe head trauma, and Payne was taken into custody by Albany Police in March 2024 after being identified as a suspect.
