Maybe you think of military academy football players as stoic. Button-up personalities. Not interested in a good time.
You’d think differently if you’d been in the Navy locker room last December 27. The Midshipmen had just beaten Oklahoma 21-20 in the Armed Forces Bowl, and the bowels of Amon Carter Stadium looked like V-J Day.
Dancing. Celebrating. Rejoicing. A long season had been capped with an historic victory for a proud program.
“A good time,” Navy cornerback Phillip Hamilton called it. “Just the whole aftermath of when the clock hit zero. Storming the field to … getting out of the locker room, everything in between, was awesome. It was like being on Cloud 9. It was crazy.”
