BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) -- September is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, and a local organization is gathering together survivors and affected family members, all to raise awareness.
The Rose Mary Flanagan Foundation puts out the teal ribbons and organizes events. Rose Mary started it, and now Erin Lonsway organizes the walks in honor of her mom. The event will be held 9 a.m. Saturday at Boardman Park.
Their goal is to raise awareness for the deadly cancer, and help other women.
"If anybody just wants to get out and walk tomorrow, and anybody that wants to share their stories tomorrow, they are more than welcome to come and share," Lonsway said.
Registration starts at 7:45 a.m. at the master's pavilion in Boardman Park. Testimony from survivors begins at 8:40, and the walk runs from 9 a.m
