SOUTH ST PAUL, Minn — A football player and St. Olaf College student has been identified as the victim of a shooting in South St. Paul early Friday morning.

According to the South St. Paul Police Department, officers were called to a home on the 300 block of 2nd Avenue South around 3:45 a.m. One adult man was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other was taken to the hospital. The suspect in the shooting was found and arrested within the next two hours. Investigators say they are trying to figure out what led up to the shooting.

St. Olaf school officials sent an email to students saying the person killed was Matthew Lee, a junior and linebacker on the football team. There will be a candlelight vigil Friday night starting at 7:30 in Boe Chapel.
