ST. LOUIS — A former employee has sued the city, claiming she dealt with sexual harassment, gender discrimination and retaliation after rejecting advances from the city's former public safety director.

Sandra Zambrana, who worked as the executive director of the city's Neighborhood Stabilization Division, filed the suit Wednesday.

In it, she accuses former city Public Safety Director Charles Coyle of ongoing and unwanted sexual advances and physical contact.

"Coyle’s actions created a hostile work environment for (Zambrana)," the lawsuit says, adding that Coyle began to retaliate against her "after she refused Coyle’s inappropriate and unwelcome sexual advances and did not cooperate with Coyle’s attempts to gain unwelcome and unwanted sexual favors."
