ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - For the first time since the 1970s, the Edwardsville High School marching band will take its talents on an international trip.

Late last year, Band Director Ryan Lipscomb learned the band’s application for the New Year’s Day Parade in London was accepted.

Earlier this spring, the students learned where they’d be going.

“I just thought it was pretty cool I get to go to Europe and through London and all the fun stuff over there,” said Corbin Siron, a junior in the band. “Like Big Ben and the Tower Bridge. I’ve never been out of the country before.”

Lipscomb said around 125 of the band’s 140 members plan to make the trip. The band’s boosters have helped students raise money by offering a variety of fundraisers.

Still, the week-long trip costs about $4,000
