SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - A local service organization is dedicating time for its 60 volunteers to better understand the history and culture of those they serve.
Midwest Street Medicine is opening its doors to anyone in the community who would like to join in its learning session.
There’s a heart of compassion from those who serve others flowing to those receiving care. It’s something Midwest Street Medicine staff and volunteers practice every time they meet those on the streets.
“We believe in meeting people where they’re at and helping them however we can. And a lot of the people that we work with are Native Americans, so we believe that it is important to bring their culture and their traditions and their storytelling into the work we do,” said Diane Eide.
