" ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - Every extra point or field goal made from a Rapides Parish High School football kicker is worth more than points on the board.

“It’s a way that we could raise money for the American Cancer Society as well as raise awareness of the need for cancer screenings,” Rapides Regional Medical Public Relations Coordinator John Marcase said.

Over the course of the season, $10 for every extra point and $20 for every field goal made from the Rapides Parish teams gets donated to the American Cancer Society.

During the first three years of Kick Cancer, the schools have combined to raise $13,000 to help cancer patients and to help find a cure for cancer.
