GRAND JUNCTION Colo. (KREX)- The second annual "Read-A-Ma-Jig" for Juniper Ridge Community School took place Friday morning in Lincoln Park.

First and eighth grade students from Juniper Ridge Community School gathered under the trees at Lincoln Park with books in hand, engaging in a one-hour reading for the joy of literacy. Marie Caris, the head of school, told WesternSlopeNow about the event.

“Alice, who was our director last year and who is our community development director this year, came up with this idea for the Read-A-Ma-Jig as a way to show our love of literacy and the enrichment program we have here.” said Caris. “The teachers pair up the different grades, some of the younger ones with older ones, to read together, and they get pledges of money for how long they're going to read
