BOONE COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) - Drivers on U.S. 119 are forced to slow down near the Lincoln and Boone County line through a construction zone, but there’s no roadwork being done.

“Now it’s like I don’t know the last time I saw anyone there working,” said Vickie Hager, a Lincoln County resident.

A West Virginia Division of Highways spokesperson said crews were pulled off the project to deal with more pressing deadlines, leaving drivers with one lane.

Vickie Hager drives through the area every day to visit her mom and worries about safety.

“The other day I was coming back from the nursing home, and there was an ambulance behind me with its lights and sirens on,” Hager said. “And it’s like if you get in that construction zone where are you gonna go, you can’t get out of the way.”
