LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - The St. Huckleberry Animal Fund is continuing its mission of compassion and support for pet parents in Lake Charles.

Today at Oak Park Square Shopping Center, the team handed out 1,000 bags of Red Barn premium dog food. Since its founding by Lori Dover in 2021, this is the organization’s fifth giveaway, contributing to over $300,000 worth of pet food distributed across the community so far.

“It’s tremendous,” said Debra Faye, who picked up food today. “I have three dogs, and I rescued 17 cats from Hurricane Laura. Financially, it’s so hard because you have to pay for food, your bills, and everything keeps going up with the cost of living.”
