WINSLOW − The highly-anticipated showdown between the top two teams in the state turned into a lopsided win for Bergen Catholic.
Scoring 35 points in the first half, Bergen Catholic blitzed Winslow, 41-14, in a game between the No. 1 and No. 2 teams in the New Jersey Super 25 rankings . The second half was played with a running clock.
Bergen Catholic set the tone by scoring on its first possession as Dante Kain ran for a 3-yard touchdown and Jacob Soltys was successful on five first-half PATs.
The Crusaders continued to dominate from there, ending the half on a 6-yard touchdown pass from Trey Tagliaferri to Jamal Hammary.
