RUNNEMEDE – There’s a new standard for the Cherry Hill High School East football team.
Winning a division title and a postseason game was a big thrill for the school and community last season.
However, the Cougars know sustained success tastes even sweeter.
Cherry Hill East is off to an impressive start with three straight wins, including Friday’s 28-14 triumph at Triton. The Cougars, who won their first nine games last fall, have outscored their opponents 115-37 over the first three weeks.
“We realized that Cherry Hill East can play really good football,” senior two-way lineman Ona Pela said. “We lost a lot of players (to graduation), but we also had a lot of players coming back, too. We knew we could replicate the formula that worked for us last year and then some.
