DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — After months of silence, several parks in Durham are alive again after flooding from Chantal back in early July caused mass destruction.
The city reports crews toured the damaged parks earlier this week and determined River Forest Park, Old Farm Road Park and West Point on the Eno Park can reopen to the public.
Stephanie Flores is one of the first visitors coming back more than two months since the devastating storm. Flores is battling cancer and told CBS 17 parks like West Point on the Eno are some of her most valuable outlets.
"For me, it really helps me connect with nature for my mental health," Flores said. "Whenever I'm having a stressful day, I really like to connect with nature. I got out of a day of medical visits for a health condition. I was like, 'You kn
