LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - In the wake of Jefferson County Clerk Bobbie Holsclaw’s death at 81, her family and local leaders are honoring her legacy in the community and asking Mayor Craig Greenberg to do the same by naming her son interim Clerk.

Brad Holsclaw currently serves in the clerk’s office and says his mom has shown him the ropes over the years.

He and those who were close to Bobbie say having her son finish out her term is what she would have wanted.

Bobbie Holsclaw passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday and was a long-standing figure in Jefferson County.

Through dozens of re-elections over more than two decades, the community chose Holsclaw as county clerk every time.

Holsclaw was a Republican, but many say she was beloved regardless of party, putting people over politics.
