ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - On Friday, top leaders of the ACLU of Georgia and the Georgia GOP aligned, calling for a cooler political climate after the shooting death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
“Turn down the rhetoric, stop characterizing people and demonizing people,” said Andrea Young, executive director of the ACLU of Georgia.
“At some point this fever has to break,” said Georgia GOP Chairman Josh McKoon.
The man accused of killing Kirk allegedly engraved messages into bullet casings before shooting him on Wednesday in Utah, officials said.
