ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Memorial and funeral plans for a DeKalb County firefighter who died in the line of duty have been announced.

A service to honor the life of Preston Fant will be held Thursday, Sept. 18, at Truist Park. The service will be at 2 p.m.

A graveside service will follow at Kennesaw Memorial Park.

Fant, 53, died while battling a fire at a Lithonia warehouse on Monday.

Fant got trapped while trying to rescue a fellow firefighter, according to DeKalb County officials. He was pulled from the burning building by his coworkers, who also began first aid at the scene before he was rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he later died.

Fant had been with DeKalb County Fire Rescue for over 20 years.

A GoFundMe has been set up to help his family.
