MEMPHIS, Tenn. - SNAP benefits meant to feed families were stolen in seconds last week.
Mid-South parents spoke out to FOX13 after they said their SNAP benefits were wiped out at a North Memphis store, leaving them wondering how they'll put food on the table.
"When I checked, the last transaction was in New York. I can't be in New York and Memphis at the same time," said Stacey Barber, who told FOX13 she had $600 in SNAP benefits wiped out after she made a purchase at Stop and Shop on North Hollywood on Sept. 5.
"By 10:30 I left the store. I didn't have anything on my card. I went from $679 to $1," Barber said.
Barber added that the North Memphis shop was the only store she visited that morning, making a $50 purchase.
Police records showed she remembered the clerk asking her to enter
