MEMPHIS, Tenn. - A trusteeship established by the City of Memphis will guide the Memphis Area Transit Authority (MATA) through its current transition, the city announced Thursday.

Attorney Rodrick Holmes has been appointed trustee for operations and will serve as interim chief executive officer. City of Memphis Chief Financial Officer Walter Person has been appointed trustee for financial oversight.

MATA currently does not have a full-time CEO. MATA was set to interview three candidates for the position in August. A day before the scheduled interviews, the city "expanded" the search, resulting in the cancellation of those scheduled interviews.
