MASON, Tenn. - Just weeks after a chaotic meeting in Mason, Tennessee over a new immigration detention facility, the first detainees have arrived. FOX13 confirmed about two dozen undocumented immigrants are being held at the West Tennessee Detention Facility.

Mason Mayor Eddie Noeman tells FOX13 detainees started arriving this week, and that there are between "20-25" being held there. Mason town leaders approved opening the detention center last month. During a contentious Board of Mayor and Aldermen meeting on Aug. 12, the town’s leaders signed a pair of contracts to convert a closed, private prison into a migrant detention center.
