In a development that could have postseason and Cy Young Award implications, Tigers ace Tarik Skubal left Detroit’s Friday game vs. Miami with tightness in the muscles in his rib cage.

There was no immediate report on the severity of his injury or how it could impact his status going forward. ESPN reported that he’ll undergo image on Saturday to better determine the severity. Detroit has 14 regular-season games remaining.

Skubal, who entered the game with a 14-inning scoreless streak, had allowed four runs to the Marlins in 3⅓ innings before the injury. After inducing a flyout to start the inning, Skubal grabbed at his left side under his arm and summoned the Tigers’ training staff before leaving the game.
