PLATTSBURGH, Vt. (WCAX) - The North Country’s Law Enforcement Torch Run returned to the Lake City today.
First responders for various agencies gathered to run from CV-TEC and ended at the John Zurlo Government Center.
The money raised will go towards Special Olympics New York for North Country athletes.
First responders also took a minute to remember those who have died in the line of duty. That includes retired first sergeant Michael Snell, who died from cancer caused by 9/11, and border patrol agent Chris David Maland, who was killed in Coventry.
“My friend Chris exemplified that. He exemplified that in every way possible. When danger presented itself, he ran right at it to serve his community,” said Robert Wainwright of U.S. Border Patrol.
Law enforcement officials say they were ab
