Superior started fast, but first half leads of 14-0 and 21-7 came to nothing in a 30-21 defeat on the road in Eau Claire on Friday, Sept. 12.

Carson Smith hit Liam Flores on a 31-yard play for the game’s opening touchdown, followed by a 20-yard run by Taynum Clark.

Early in the second quarter, Beckett Selden made the big play on defense, forcing, recovering and returning a fumble 28 yards to the house as the Spartans led 21-7.

That would, however, be Superior’s last scoring of the contest. North scored back-to-back touchdowns to tie the game with a minute left in the half, then took the lead after Superior had to take a safety on a botched punt snap. North then returned the second-half kickoff for a touchdown and a nine-point lead, which amounted to the end of the scoring.
