SANDUSKY, Ohio – Following a large drop in visitation early in the year, Cedar Point and other Six Flags properties are seeing crowds return to the parks in late summer.
Attendance at the parks was up 2% during the nine-week period that ended Aug. 31, and up 3% in August alone, according to a Friday release from the company. That’s in contrast to a drop of 9% during the second quarter that company officials largely attributed to lousy weather across the United States.
The second-quarter earnings report, released in early August, caused deep concern among industry observers, who worried the company would have to sell off parks and make other deep cuts to try to stem the losses.
