LONDON, Ky. (WYMT) - The South Laurel Cardinals are off to their first 4-0 start in school history after a 49-0 shutout against Whitley County.

The Cardinals got on the board first, thanks to a rushing score by Wes Dowell.

When John Hines’ crew got the ball back, Mason Griffin connected with Carter Kelley on a home run ball to make it 14-0 in favor of the home team.

The Cardinals made the Colonels pay once more, this time with a 73-yard pitch and catch from Griffin to Garrison Brown. The Cardinals’ advantage ballooned to 21-0.

South Laurel (4-0) heads to Wayne County in a battle of the cardinals on Friday, Sept. 19 at 7:30 p.m.

Whitley County (1-3) returns home to face No. 1 Bell County for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff on Friday, Sept. 19.
