CENTERVILLE, Texas (KBTX) - Despite a second quarter surge, Centerville fell to 3A DI opponent Groesbeck, 42-19. The loss drops the Tigers’ record to 1-2 on the season with two more weeks left of non-district play.
Why did Groesbeck win? While the Centerville ground attack moved the ball in spurts, the Tigers were unable to consistently sustain drives offensively. The Goats balanced attack, featuring their strong-arm quarterback Reiter Sanford, presented many dilemmas for the Centerville defense.
Standout performance: Despite the Centerville loss, senior Jake Gray racked up some hard-earned yards in the ground game for the Tigers. He was the team’s workhorse back in a physical contest with the Goats.
