WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — Several employees at Emory Hospital Warner Robins say they were blindsided after being suddenly fired months following the hospital’s merger with another healthcare system.

Among them is registered nurse Karen Harper, who says she was let go over the phone after nearly eight years on the job. Harper says her termination stemmed from a disagreement with a coworker about patient paperwork.

“I asked my manager, who my assistant manager who was on the other side, if she would do paperwork that the doctor asked me to do for a patient, and it was a very quick procedure, you know, paperwork, and she said, 'No, that’s your patient,'” Harper said.
