Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Joey Porter Jr. will miss the team’s game against the Seattle Seahawks with a hamstring injury. Porter left Sunday’s game against the New York Jets early with the issue, and head coach Mike Tomlin was optimistic he would play, but the team decided it was not worth it for Porter to push it this week.

He did not practice all week despite Tomlin’s optimism, signaling that Porter’s injury is more severe than initially thought by the team.

With no Porter, it will be cornerback Brandin Echols who will suit up instead. Echols had to play for Porter during the rest of the game after the team held Porter out as a precaution. During those snaps, Echols played outside cornerback.

Porter has become a stalwart in the Steelers’ secondary over the last two seasons
