Gonzalez missed the past two games after he left Boston’s 6-0 win over the Athletics on Tuesday in the middle of the second inning with left knee soreness . He’s slashing .347/.396/.636/1.032 in 134 plate appearances against lefties this year, which is significant as the Yankees are starting left-hander Max Fried (16-5, 3.02 ERA).
Fried is 0-1 with a 1.38 ERA (13 innings, two runs) in two starts against Boston this year.
The Sox will counter with righty Brayan Bello (11-6, 3.12 ERA). Bello has a 1.95 ERA in 10 career st
