BOSTON — The Red Sox have shut down right-handed reliever Liam Hendriks from throwing, and he’s not expected to pitch again this season.

“He had a setback a few weeks ago,” manager Alex Cora said before the Red Sox’ game against the Yankees on Saturday . “Kind of like got tight on the forearm. So they shut him down.”

Only 14 games remain in the regular season, and the 36-year-old Hendriks has not pitched since May 27.

“I don’t know if he’s done-done for the year but it doesn’t look like he’s going to be able to be a part of it,” Cora said.

Hendriks landed on the 15-day injured list May 30 due to right hip inflammation. Boston transferred him to the 60-day IL on July 8 .
