AUBURN — However trite it may be, Auburn football 's 31-15 win over South Alabama on Saturday, Sept. 13, was a tale of two halves.
In its broadest scope, it was a win, and a much-needed one as that. Auburn (3-0) will head into SEC play next weekend, traveling to Oklahoma for a Sept. 20 matchup, halfway to bowl eligibility. But with what it did, or didn't, do against the Jaguars , it's hard to feel the sort of hope one would want to have after an undefeated start.
Hugh Freeze 's offense came out firing, nearly doubling South Alabama's (1-2) yardage total heading into halftime. That same production was nonexistent after intermission, however, as the Jaguars outgained the Tigers in the second half, as well as outscoring them 6-3.
