Tasmania Police are calling for information about a house fire in Newnham overnight, which investigators alleged was deliberately lit.

The fire was extinguished by Tasmania Fire Service crews after they were called to the blaze at Mount Stuart Drive at approximately 2am on Saturday, September 13.

Police said no one was home at the time of the blaze that caused significant damage to the property.
