SOUTH MISSISSIPPI (WLOX) - Special bonds were formed across South Mississippi as generations came together for ‘Adopt a Grandparent Day’.
The Greenbriar Nursing Center in D’Iberville was filled with laughter and love as volunteers joined to recognize and honor the lives and values of the elderly.
Founders say the day is set aside for community volunteers to honor those who are dishonored during a time in their lives when they should be appreciated the most.
The day was founded by Lee and Kathy Rogers in 2014, and has grown each year, featuring 48 teams across 39 facilities in 2025.
The idea behind the day is simple: form a connection and value their lives.
