SANDY, Utah (ABC4 Sports) - After a three week layoff, Real Salt Lake appears ready to make a late-season playoff push.
Diego Luna and Alex Katranis both scored goals as RSL held on for a 2-1 victory over Sporting Kansas City to pull to within one point of the play-in game in the Western Conference with six games left in the regular season.
Luna picked up his ninth goal of the season, and first since May 24th, unassisted in the 40th minute to give RSL a 1-0 lead.
Katranis scored his first of the season in the 62nd minute for a two-goal advantage. Eighteen-year-old Zavier Gozo notched his second assist in the 22nd appearance of his rookie campaign.
Sporting KC's only score came on an own goal by Real Salt Lake defender Brayan Vera in the 71st minute.
