The police officer whom Karen Read's defense claimed was pressured to change her testimony by Boston Police Commissioner Michael Cox has resigned, according to Boston police.

Kelly Dever officially resigned on Sept. 1, just two months after Cox spoke out in denial of accusations made by the defense during Read's trial.

Read's defense suggested that Cox pressured a member of his department, Officer Kelly Dever, to change her testimony.

Dever, a former member of the Canton Police Department, testified that she worked patrol on Jan. 28, 2022, and later took over dispatch duties after a call about a "person in a snowbank."
