Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday laid the foundation stone and inaugurated projects worth around Rs 6,500 crore in Assam’s Darrang, calling the day a “historic milestone” in the state’s journey of growth and cultural pride.

Greeting the people of Assam on the occasion of Janmashtami, the Prime Minister said he felt “blessed” to be on the land of Mangaldoi, a place he described as a confluence of “culture, pride and hope for the future.” He linked his visit to the recent success of Operation Sindoor, attributing the victory to the blessings of Maa Kamakhya.
