A father-of-three who was evicted from his family home by Labour’s biggest donor has spoken out against the “hypocrisy” of the party’s most powerful figures.

Lord Alli, who has donated hundreds of thousands of pounds to Labour, had served a section 21 “no-fault” eviction notice to the young family in June, but re-listed the townhouse only days later for £1000 more a month.

This will be illegal when Labour’s Renters’ Rights Bill becomes law next year .

“The hypocrisy just feels like too much, and we felt we had to speak out. It’s such poor behavior,” said the father, who is in his 40s.

The family had lived in the property in north London for four years. They had been paying £4,800 a month, but the property was re-listed for £6,000 before being lowered to £5,850 a month.
