Liverpool, N.Y. - Local Indigenous people came together Friday and Saturday to celebrate the annual Haudenosaunee Wooden Stick Festival.

The two-day event featured both a 5K run, smoke dance competition and traditional lacrosse games around Onondaga Lake Park.

Saturday morning’s activities centered around the “Restore our Sacred Lake 5K,” a run to honor the lake’s significance to Onondaga Nation and its residents.

Later on Sunday, attendees learned about Haudenosaunee traditions and stick making. 17
