GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - New gear for the Grand Island Police Department will be used by their four-legged officers. The donation was made by Jackson Vaughan, and the vest was provided by Vested Interest, a nonprofit.

The vest cost $1,800, but for a donation to be made, it will be 1,200 dollars. The vest that Cello will wear is four pounds, and is stab and bullet protected. It will also have the name of Vaughan engraved on the chest. It is equivalent to what our two legged officers wear.

K-9 and their handlers train every week together, focusing on certain situations the dogs might not be as good in and to build that bond between handler and dog.
