The San Francisco 49ers entered halftime with a 16-7 lead over the New Orleans Saints on Sunday at the Caesars Superdome.

The 49ers started Mac Jones at quarterback in place of the injured Brock Purdy and Jones threw for an 11-yard touchdown, set up a successful field-goal attempt and hit Christian McCaffrey with a 7-yard touchdown pass with seven seconds left in the half.

Saints defensive end Carl Granderson sacked Jones twice .

Saints quarterback Spencer Rattler hit Rashid Shaheed with a 39-yard completion on the first possession but failed to connect with an open Chris Olave in the end zone.
