MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) -A 44-year-old motorcyclist is dead after crashing into a mailbox, then a utility pole on Sunday morning.

The Rock County Sheriff’s Office and Walworth County responded to a single motorcycle crash on E CTH A east of N CTH M, in the Town of Johnstown. This happened just after 6:30 a.m.

Authorities say a 44-year-old man from Delevan was driving a Honda motorcycle on E CTH A. The motorcycle lost control around a curve and crashed into a mailbox, then a utility pole. The man was ejected from the motorcycle and was not wearing a helmet.

Officials say speed was a factor in the crash. The motorcyclist died from his injuries at the scene.
